Adaptive Recreational Program
This 45-minute program is designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities, mobility impairments, physical disabilities, or varying support needs. Classes include a warm-up, stretching, games, and the use of rhythmic equipment while introducing basic gymnastics-inspired movements in a fun and supportive environment.
Participants will have the opportunity to perform in the Winter Production and in the Spring Production.
The program emphasizes artistic expression, movement, creativity, and fluidity rather than strength-based or high-impact activities. Movements can be adapted to be performed sitting, standing, or while moving, making the class accessible to a wide range of abilities. Activities focus on upper-body coordination, rhythm, and equipment manipulation through expressive movement combined with music and colourful props.
Inspired by rhythmic gymnastics, participants may explore equipment such as balls, hoops, ribbons, ropes, and clubs, along with unconventional and creative materials that add variety, sensory engagement, and fun to each class.
The program aims to:
-
Build confidence and self-expression
-
Encourage social interaction and teamwork
-
Improve coordination and motor skills
-
Support sensory engagement and creativity
-
Promote inclusive participation in a positive environment
All activities are adaptable to meet the individual needs and abilities of each participant, ensuring every athlete can experience success, enjoyment, and personal growth through movement.
