Adaptive Competitive Program

This 1 hour and 30 minute program is designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities, mobility impairments, physical disabilities, or varying support needs who are interested in learning routines and participating in performances and potential competitions.

Classes will include a warm-up, stretching, games, and rhythmic gymnastics activities while learning basic gymnastics-inspired movements and routines. Participants will work with rhythmic equipment and develop routines that will later be performed or presented in a competitive setting.

Participants will perform in the two club performances during the year, the Winter Production and the Spring Production and potentially multiple competitions.

At this time, competitions have not yet been confirmed. Our preference is to attend at least one competition outside of Saskatoon that may require travel. Participation in competitions or travel events is optional and not required to be part of the program.

Please note that any additional performances, competitions, or outside club events beyond the two scheduled club performances may involve extra costs (see Competition section for more information).

This class focuses on:

  • Creativity and artistic expression

  • Building self-confidence and independence

  • Developing coordination and movement skills

  • Learning routines and performance skills

  • Encouraging teamwork and social interaction

The program emphasizes fluidity, expression, and adaptability rather than high-impact or strength-focused movements. Activities and routines can be modified to meet the individual needs and abilities of each participant, allowing every athlete the opportunity to succeed and participate in a supportive and inclusive environment.
